Description: Over 200 orange clay handmade bricks are in the slot and were recovered from a demolished chimney in Newport Rhode Island in the historic District of Newport. The house from which these bricks were removed was built around 1850. The bricks are orange in color and are solar to those that were handmade in coastal Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts. There are multiple bricks with finger marks in them which is indicative of handmade bricks. There are no makers marks. It is confirmed that the house was built around 1858 1860 and that the chimney was original to the home. There is the white lime mortar between the orange clay bricks which has deteriorated and you can see where water has seeped through the mortar. Space The above lot of bricks would be great for any historic renovation. If interested we can make arrangements for transfer of bricks to your location via shipping.
