1st edition 1st printing Eight American Writers by Norton Anthology! 1963. Nice!

Description: Here is a truly wonderful collectible copy of one of the first Norton Anthologies ever published. This is Eight American Writers An Anthology Of American Literature. This is a stated first edition with a complete number line published by Norton in 1963. The very first Norton Anthology appeared just one year prior in 1962. This copy features the following American icons: Poe, Emerson, Thoreau, Hawthorne, Whitman, Melville, Clemens, and James. This copy is truly nice. The binding is square and tight and immaculate throughout. The blue cloth boards are extremely clean and the gold gilt lettering on the front board and spine is bright and beautiful as shown. With the index included this huge tome totals 1610 pages. There is a previous owner’s name printed in ink on the front inner board but very small and light. The dust jacket is complete and has the original price of $7.95 present on the front flap also as shown in the photos provided. The jacket does have general wear from handling over the years and a portion scraped off from the lower left portion which does include some of the spine as can be seen in the images posted. All told a very presentable quite early Norton Anthology to be considered.
