This is a listing for an original bronze sculpture designed, cast, and signed by French artist Suzanne Bizard during what some might argue was the height of her career. The base of the casting bears Bizard's etched signature, pictured above. This piece has been in a Tulsa family's collection for some time, with the family having personally known Bizard. It has been meticulously cared for and is rarely if ever handled without cotton archival gloves. The base is made from solid marble. Felt footing was professionally cut and adhered to the underside of the marble base more than a decade ago in order to prevent damage to tables - this felt is still in its original condition and will not need to be replaced at any point in the foreseeable future. As for the artist, Suzanne Bizard was a notable French sculptor, born in Saint-Amand-Montrond in the year of 1873. She is a life member of the Society of French Artists, where she exhibited until 1936. She received an honorable mention in 1900, where her plaster statue "Vers l’idéal" (Towards the ideal) ( N o 1846) was bought by the state. She also exhibited at the Salon of French Artists (Académie des Beaux-Arts) "Honor and Money" in 1903, with two notable portraits in 1904 and 1905. She is best known for statuettes featuring children.This statue will be quadruple wrapped and placed in a custom cut reinforced box prior to shipment.
