Description: Super rare- full set of 5 majolica tiles from the Encaustic Tile company of Indianapolis, Indiana, circa 1890. They were framed sometime around 1960. Overall excellent condition, bottom tile has two glaze flakes and a small chip at the top- see photos. Each tile is 6x6, 5.5” showing (1/4” under the frame on either side). The detail is outstanding. So… as I was listing this, I just had to open the back and make sure that I was correct- so the last two photos show the back of the bottom tile (indeed marked Encaustic tile company) and the mess I made… and now an option for the buyer… I can leave them in the frame to ship (mending the back to the best of my ability) or remove them and wrap them individually (should save a bit on shipping).
