There is a very small lever in the cutting chamber that may or may not work. I am not able to determine what it's purpose is. The label shows the wear that 100 years of use will do. It is readable, but worn. There is also a raised "Roneo" in the sharpening chamber. The cover opens and closes as designed and the shavings drawer is also working fine. The pencil being sharpened is held in place by the pencil feed and will get slowly pushed into the chamber to sharpen the pencil. I have noticed that real wood pencils work far better than synthetic pencils. This is not a perfect piece, but considering its age, and obvious use, it is in really good condition. The asking price reflects the imperfect state.
