Description: Antique Staffordshire Newfoundland Dog with Jockey This great little piece features a Newfoundland dog which is relatively well documented however I have never come across one with a jockey seated on top. Probably a humorous commentary on the size of these dogs. Jockey has a tiny horn to his mouth which may possibly have the tip broken but difficult to tell since it is so small. Probably Staffordshire mid 19th Century. Approx 4.5"H X 4.5"W. Provenance: Prominent private collection Documentation: Dennis Rice- Dogs in English Porcelain, p. 137, plate 211 Condition: Nice condition, possible break to tip of horn in jockey's hand, otherwise minor imperfections to be expected with age. I will be listing a large Collection of Staffordshire, many pieces from private collections, so please keep watching. Terms of Sale Please review photos closely.
