Folk Art Pine Cabinet with Quails Box size 18" by 18", 8" deep The melding of American Folk Art and early modern bird representation makes for a fantastic presentation in this handmade wooden wall cabinet! This 18” by 18” pine box features a hand-painted image of Mountain and California Quail. These birds are likely done in the likeness of John James Audubon’s images of these quail for his seminal Birds of America series.The box features three interior shelves that are approximately 16 ½ in long, 6 ½ in deep, and 5 ¼ in tall, each. This box is intended to be hung on the wall and has screw holes in the back through which it can be mounted. Whether you decide to put miniature decoys, ammunition for the next hunt, or just display it, this antique piece can really tie a cabin room together!This piece is an authentic American folk art item. It was likely created in the late 19th or early 20th century. The artisan is unknown and the piece, due to the quail’s range, was likely created on the West Coast, as the range of these two quail overlap there.Condition: This wall cabinet is in VERY GOOD condition! As per AAFA guidelines, no improvements to this piece were made. The box has some wear consistent with age and use, with moderate wear to the bottom portion of the box and hinged front cover. The bottom board is partially loose and could benefit from a few nails if it is intended to be used.
