About the Gurkhas' Official Issue- 9" Nepal Police Khukuri:This is an Official Police issued Khukuri (kukri) used to Nepalese Police officers. Most Nepalese Police officers will carry this Kukri when on duty. However many off duty Nepalese officers also carry this kukri. This is one of the few Kukri officially issued to Police officers on special occasions or during training events, trainings and graduations. The Khukuri made specifically for the Nepal Police can be identified by the cross insignia at the end cap of the handle distinguishing them as being a weapon of the Nepalese Police Force. Made of a Highly Graded Carbon with balanced temper on the edge of the blade skillfully made with a 9" long blade and a handle that is 5" long, made of Rosewood this blade is durable. The edge of the blade has been water tempered which makes it very strong and virtually unbreakable. This Kukri is also great for use in the home and can easily chop wood, cut through bone or may be used to clear brush. Two Accessory Knives: The Karda; which has a sharp edge is used for skinning animal hides & the Chakmak which is blunt and is used for sharpening blade. How to maintain your Kukri:1. Apply machine oil, gun oil, or animal fat on the blade after every use. 2. Its recommended that you don't leave any fingerprints on the blade. If its necessary to touch the blade, you should clean it by using petrol/gasoline or oil and wipe with soft cloths. 3. Your Kukri blade is made of Carbon Steel and can rust easily. In case of rusting rub it with a fine sandpaper, clean the dirt using some oil or gasoline and wipe it with a clean soft cloth then apply oil. Check the blade frequently and apply oil regularly. 4. Use shoe polish for the leather sheaths. Use brass polish or silver polish (the type used for brass fittings or sliver sheaths). 5. Most of the Kukris come with two utility knives; the blunt knife (chakmak) is used for sharpening the blade The other one - sharp edge (karda) is used for small tasks such as a pen knife.
