Description: Beautiful handpainted Kutani porcelain tea set with netted butterfly pattern from Meiji era Japan (1868-1912). Kutani ware features polychrome glazing and precious metal enamel. Impossibly delicate cups & saucers are translucent (see photo with light shining through the cup); teapot and sugar are sturdy. Priced to move quickly, as sets like this are selling elsewhere for $650-1000. Includes teapot w/lid, sugar w/lid, 7x teacups, and 7x saucers Measurements (approx): teapot 7" tall, sugar 3.5" tall, saucers 4" across, teacups 2" tall This 120-160 year old set does have some slight wear from age (see photos), including some small chips in the glazing and slight pitting/tarnish on wider sections of the metallic enamel. There is also a small stain on the underside of the teapot lid. Highly recommend local pickup if possible due to the extremely delicate nature of the cups & saucers!
