Description: Great Antique Pair Silver Openwork Egg-Form Baskets - India? c1870sPresented is a very nice quality pair of silver openwork egg-shaped baskets. These were made in the mid to late 1800s, likely in India. The basket is in the form of a fancy egg cup, with a pierced lattice base and decorative crossed-ribbon top. The body of the baskets are beautifully hand chased and engraved with floral forms. The background is hand-stippled to create more of a contrast. Each basket has a twisted-square ring at the top, for hanging. The rings have an incised opening, so they can be detached and reattached elsewhere on the baskets. These pieces are solidly built and very nice quality! The pieces do not appear to be marked. Tested and guaranteed to be at least 850 purity silver. The condition is excellent. There are no breaks, no cracks, no splits, no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals and no repairs. The pieces measure 2 7/8 inches tall and 1 7/8 inches in diameter. The weight is 82.1 grams or 2.9 ounces. Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
