Instructions Loose Leaf: The leaves are placed in paper booklets, loosely inlaid in 25 compartments, one for each leaf. To cut the leaf, one may take it from the booklet with the gilding knife and place it on the gilding cushion or drop it directly from the booklet onto the gilding cushion. Then, pick up the leaf with the gilder's tip and place it onto the prepared surface.L.A. Gold Leaf Yellow, Gray, and Red Primer L.A. Gold Leaf Yellow, Gray, and Red Primer for gilding and graphic arts are finely ground pigmented products that eliminate the requirement for separate applications of a sealer, gesso or bole. They produce a smooth surface requiring no or very light sanding. This is not for use as an architectural coating. The product will seal the surface providing excellent adhesion for gilding and permit a high burnish, with a minimum of rubbing, when built up with multiple coats. L.A. Gold Leaf Primer is manufactured utilizing premier resins exhibiting excellent adhesion and moisture resistance. The pigments utilized are recommended for gilding applications due to their lasting performance and color retention. This is excellent for use on exterior items such as weather vanes and caducei made of copper, bronze, steel or iron. L.A. Gold Leaf Acrylic TopcoatL.A. Gold Leaf Acrylic Topcoat Gloss for gilding, artwork, hobby & graphic arts use is a non-reactive premium water clear vehicle composed of acrylic copolymers with outstanding characteristics. It’s viscosity allows application by brush or spray over gilders leaf requiring protection from abrasion, water, ultra-violet and chemical resistance. The topcoat will last years without yellowing, making it a long-lasting solution for protecting gold leaf.L.A. Gold Leaf Quick Dry Size A clear Oil Base gilder’s adhesive (size) for fast leaf work. It affords excellent durability, flexibility and open time for interior and exterior gilding applications. The L.A. Gold Leaf Quick Dry Size gilding size will achieve tack in approximately 1½ hours and the tack will remain for approximately the same period of time. Total hard dry occurs in about 36 hours. It should be noted that tack and dry times are subjective to the gilder’s technique, thickness of the film and are approximate depending on the ambient temperature and humidity when applied. Gilding Brush 3" Made of ultra soft stipple brush, with white bristles that are ideal for lifting or applying leaves to surfaces. They are great for pushing paint out of the way without leaving lines or streaks. It will brush off without damaging the Gold Leaf. You can brush vertical, horizontal or diagonal and the gold will show the direction of the brushing, without damaging the surface. Burnish Cloth (100% cotton)This is ideal for cleaning surfaces before and after applying the gold leaf. This item is excellent for use with solvents and stains. It is one of the highest quality wiping cloth and lint free cotton for the finest finishing.
