Symbolism: The cross formée (or cross pattée) is a form of equidistant cross. The equidistant cross (also known as the Sun's Cross or Odin's cross) is an ancient symbol representing the four directions (north, south, east, and west) and four elements (earth, air, fire, and water). The center of the cross (where the pentagram sits) represents the hidden element of Spirit as well as the Axis Mundi or spiritual Center of the World. Crosses are protective symbols, and they are often used as protective amulets. The pentagram, or five pointed star, is an occult symbol of health, harmony and mystical powers. The five points of the star represent the five elements: earth, air, fire, water, and spirit. These are the five elements that make up the Microcosm, or 'little universe', which the pentagram has come to represent. English Pewter is much harder to craft than the low-grade zinc and lead alloys (which contain a significant amount of toxic impurities) that are still being used in some jewelry manufacture today. Because these rings are handcrafted and hand-finished, each one is unique; and there are slight variations between individual pieces. Also, slight imperfections in the finished product are normal, expected, and add to the unique handmade character of each piece.
