Description: Rare 1940 Algeria 100 Francs Pick Number 85 Currency Very Fine or Better Banknote For your World Currency Collection - PCU366 Details Description: A beautiful large very fine or better banknote from Algeria. This is the May 18, 1940 One Hundred Francs or Cent Francs. This nice size note is a very colorful noted with a scene of a an older man with a turban on his head and mountain in the distance on a multicolored background showing a building with arched portals. The back, which is very colorful, shows a farming scene with a man ploughing and using oxen. The note is in French but has the denomination on the front and the warning against counterfeit on the back and the denomination on the front in Arabic. This particular note has the serial number 6264257 located in the top center of the front and is series P.251. The note also has the number 237 in the top right corner and bottom left corner of the front, however, we are not certain what the number represents. It has two signatures and a watermark depicting a woman's bust in profile. Please carefully review the scan as it is part and parcel of our description. Date: 18-5-1940 (May 18, 1942). Printer: Unknown, but most likely France. Size: The banknote measures ~6 3/16" by ~3 5/8". Pick Number: P 85. Condition: I would grade this banknote as choice very fine or better with all the details being very well preserved. The note has many folds both vertical and horizontal. It has soiling and minor staining but it has no pinholes. Three corners are intact with minimum rounding and the fourth has minor loss. However, all are well creased. The note has no tears but has one minor nick at the top of the right hand edge. Just a great note to add to your collection. Please see photo for additional condition information.
