Description: This is a very rare and very special Blanton's bottle topper. It was never atop a cork or a bottle. Buffalo Trace Master Distiller Elmer T. Lee and his wife Libby were long-time family friends who lived in the same neighborhood in Frankfort, Kentucky. Elmer gifted this bottle topper to my mother-in-law, because he knew that she loved horses and was an avid racing fan. Horses with letters that spell BLANTONS were not yet featured on Blanton's Bourbon at that point. The stopper Elmer gave to my mother-in-law came with the green felt bottom just as you see here. It is still bright gold in color and features the Blanton's "B" that represents racehorse and rider at the starting gate. This is a very early model of the Blanton's bottle topper with letter - pre-1994. Letters began to appear on the stoppers around 1994. The Blanton's brand was launched in 1984 under the guidance of the Buffalo Trace distillery's Master Distiller Elmer T. Lee, as the first modern bourbon brand marketed as a Single Barrel Bourbon. The original brand name was Blanton's Single Barrel Bourbon. The horses with the BLANTONS letters were added to the bottle stoppers around 1994. Bright, clean, and undamaged! A true treasure!
