Description: Short Stories of Charles Dickens; 1971 Artist-SIGNED Limited Edition of 1500. SIGNED by artist Edward Ardizzone and printer Joseph Blumenthal. Also, hand-numbered 292 out of 1500. Condition and Terms This book is in excellent unused or very gently-used condition. There are no attached bookplates or embossed seals. Sharp corners, no obvious scuffs or rubs. The slipcase was completely coming apart structurally, but I had it professionally restored. You can still see at seam where the restoration occurred (see last photo) but it is fairly inconspicuous and not cosmetically ugly. In any event, I flip the book and slipcase throughout the photos so that you can see all sides and I zoom-in on any particularly inconspicuous defects (or in this case some slipcase restoration work) that may otherwise be difficult to see. As a result the photographs are generally a far better description of the product’s condition than my words. Please review all photos carefully before purchasing, and feel free to ask questions if the photos provided do not suffice. Please also do not hesitate to request additional photos if needed. Returns are only allowed due to shipping damage or item not being as described. Due to USPS insurance claims procedures, partial refunds are not allowed due to shipping damage. Items damaged in shipping must be returned in the original packaging as received. The USPS requires inspection of the packaging and item damaged. Synopsis Stories of comedy and character from one of Britain's greatest novelists This witty and amusing collection of short pieces shows Dickens liberated from the more formal and sustained demands of the novel and experimenting with a diverse range of fictional techniques. In his tales of the supernatural, he creates frighteningly believable, spine-tingling stories of prophetic dreams and visions, as well as more fantastical adventures with goblins and apparitions. Impressionistic sketches combine imaginatively heightened travel journals with wry observations of home and abroad, while in his dramatic monologues, Dickens demonstrates his talent for exploring the secret workings of the human mind. These short works display Dickens's exuberant sense of comedy and character as his imagination is given free rein. Please see table of contents in the photos to ascertain exactly which short stories are included.
