Description: Rare original booklet published in 1955 upon "The Fiftieth Anniversary of Dawson's Book Shop: 1905-1955", and authored by Fern Dawson Shochat, to commemorate the history of the book selling career of Ernest Dawson. Begun in Los Angeles in April 1905 with the opening of his first shop at 713 South Broadway in Downtown Los Angeles, and continuing on through the decades with the famed store on Larchmont Boulevard. The booklet is softbound with off white paper wraps, and is 24pp including the covers. Black and white vignette illustrations interspersed throughout the text featuring images of the interiors of the stores, some of the book collecting customers of the shop and various members of the staff and family in the business. Dimensions are approximately 7.25" x 5". Booklet is in generally very fine condition, with tight binding, clean/unmarked pages and only minor toning of the wraps.
