VINTAGE LARGE FOLK ART OUTSIDER PAINTING/ BURLAP CANVAS, BIRDS, ANIMALS, FOREST

Description: FEATURED: A wonderful example of true 'Outsider' folk art at its simplest and most charming, this large hand-painted forest scene, where a fox or dog?, a white swan, and a pair of colorful large parrots are all visiting in a peaceful wooded area, a bright pink sun peeking over a vivid blue waterfall which tumbles down a mountain to fill a pool, enjoyed by the swan, and large pink & blue flowers fill the ground, tall leafy trees shading everything under them. No people here, just relaxed creatures having a peaceful time out in the woods, a beautiful day away from any urban stress and noises. We don't know who did this whimsical scene, or where it was created- we wish we did, as we'd love to find more of his/her work to enjoy! We found this piece, and several other similar ones, at an estate of a folk art collector who spent a lot of time living in Mexico, also traveling in Central America, so we're assuming this is from that region, but cannot be sure, as we could not find anything remotely similar online. We know wonderful, wild folk art scenes like this are created world-wide in many cultures, each with its own twist but all just so great, lively, and each unique in its own way! Is this Mexican? Or is it Polish? or ? Inquiring, fascinated minds want to know, including us! We were told that similar burlap canvas art like this was done as 'floor canvases', decorative floor coverings, but this has no backing or covering on its back, so we think this, as it is, would not wear well as such. However, in creative hands, this could become whatever you'd love to have in your fun home! Perhaps it was done to be put onto a wall as a small mural for a room, we just don't know... what we do know is that it is very innocent and fresh, with naive charm and lots of color to put a positive, cheerful vibe into any room, any decor! And with lots of great color and whimsy with these wonderful creatures found here! Those parrots with their colorful plumage, the large white swan so regal in his pond, and that dog or fox or ?, so interesting & fun- just look at his face, with his tongue hanging out! We salute this anonymous artist, whoever he/she was, and whenever and where ever it was made, we hope its new owner will enjoy it as much as the artist obviously did in painting it. What a joyful piece of the Natural World at its most unsophisticated and elemental level, and one we can all relate to and enjoy in our home for many years to come! MEASURES: 84 inches X 29.5 inches, hand-painted onto tan lightweight burlap canvas cloth, not signed/dated, and has never been framed or stretched. Canvas is thin enough so that some of the paint has bled through in places, typical of this genre, and can easily be rolled up for storage/shipping/moving from wall-wall; we assume the canvas is some sort of natural fiber, probably cotton or linen/jute, but it has not been tested for fiber content. Canvas has not been sealed/ varnished. This is not a signed/dated piece, and we were told it was from Mexico, but have no documentation to confirm that. It is possible it is from one of many countries where artists create similar artwork, and the previous owner visited over the years, too. Where ever it is from, we love the art created and hope its new owner can solve this fun puzzle of its origin! In very good condition, with bright, fresh colors and no signs of loss of paint, this moveable mural can be put up anywhere in your home at a moment's notice with several pushpins if you want to keep things simple & easy, or can be framed for a more permanent style of art.
