Description: OWN A PIECE OF THE WHITE HOUSE As a long time Presidential collector I've been the proud curator of many historical items. These signs were purchased from a well known collector who gave me the following information about these items. I believe this information to be correct however I have no additional provenance to verify the following information. I am listing 4 different signs, Presidential Washroom, Private Presidential Suite, Whitehouse Ballroom, and Whitehouse Stateroom. There are 4 different listings. You are only bidding on the one pictured in this listing, the Presidential Ballroom. All signs are 6" x 3 7/8" and appear to be made of brass. The history of these signs as I was told when I purchased these signs individually are as follows.... They came from the estate of Evelyn Maurine Norton Lincoln, secretary to President Kennedy. She aquired them during Jacqueline Kennedy's well-publicized restoration and redecoration of the president's official residence, the White House, in the first year of her husband's presidency, 1961. These signs were originally used to identify the rooms for which each was posted outside of. The "Ballroom" sign was actually used outside of what we now know as the "East Room", the largest room in the White House that has always been used for many functions including as a Ballroom. My listing price was my purchase price from several years ago. I am willing to take offers as I currently need the cash more than my collection.
