Description: FOR the complete story, FULL DETAILS and BIG CLEAR PICTURES, Please SEE THE DESCRIPTION WOODROW WILSON 1912-1916 Presidential Election "COLOR PORTRAIT" >Campaign BUTTON Description This is a very nice, scarce these days, larger, "Woodrow Wilson", color portrait, Campaign "Pinback" Button from either the 1912 or 1916 United States Presidential Election.   Woodrow Wilson was the 28th President of the United States. He was in office from 1913 until 1921. He had been the President of Princeton University and the Governor of New Jersey before he ran for President.   In the 1912 election the Republicans nominated the incumbent President, William Howard Taft. Failing to gain the Republican nomination, former President Theodore Roosevelt "bolted" the Republicans and formed the "Progressive" party which is better known today as the "Bull Moose" party. And, there was Eugene V. Debs of the then powerful "Socialist" party. So, it was a four-way race. Wilson won handily and became the first southerner, he was born and raised in the south, to be elected since Zachery Taylor in 1848.   On what denomination United States note does Woodrow Wilson appear? See below.   Weight: 2.87 Grams, 32 Millimeters, Metal. "A Guide Book to United States Medals and Tokens" by Katherine Jaeger. (General Reference). Obverse: WIN WITH WILSON • Woodrow Wilson. • Union “bug” at right.   In the 1916 election with World War I raging in Europe, Wilson who “Kept us out of War” ran against the Republican Supreme Court Justice, Charles Evans Hughes. Winning by a much narrower margin, Wilson became the first Democrat to win a second term since Andrew Jackson in 1832.   Reverse: On edge: BASTIAN BROS., ROCHESTER, N. Y. • Clasp.   Some lesser-known Wilson facts: He introduced the "Income Tax" and the Federal Reserve system, and he invaded Mexico, sending an army under General Pershing with his young aide Lieutenant George Patton to chase Pancho Villa, who had raided across the border and killed 18 people in New Mexico. Pershing failed to catch him.   The Button: A decent fully original example of a historical button, not a modern reproduction. It has passed through some hands and has some light defects. As grading is subjective, please see the pictures and judge for yourself.   The answer:   It's a genuine note but it's NOT INCLUDED. Serial Number 1. The largest denomination ever printed, they were used only by the Federal Reserve and never released to the public.   Remember, FREE SHIPPING to the USA!
